MAPME Update

The MAPME Initiative Launches Its New Training Program for Community Members

The MAPME Initiative is thrilled to announce the launch of its new training program, created to equip its community members with essential skills and knowledge in geospatial data.

This program offers a series of interactive workshops, catering to everyone from beginners looking to create their first maps to advanced users interested in applying analysis tools or collecting field data. Through live, hands-on sessions, participants will receive practical guidance directly from our experts.

The workshops will be held online every six weeks, with each session running for 90 minutes—45 minutes of live tutorials followed by 45 minutes of Q&A.

So far, two workshops have been successfully completed: an Introduction to QGIS and a session on Semiology and Symbology in QGIS. Recordings of these sessions, along with the relevant datasets, are available on the MAPME YouTube channel for anyone to revisit or catch up on.

Our next workshop, Introduction to Open Data in the Geospatial World, is scheduled for October 31st. Are you curious about open data? Unsure how to find the most relevant sources or integrate them into QGIS? Join us by registering here.

We look forward to seeing you there!
