KfW is progressing on its work to create a curated collection of free and open data portals to enable our staff and partners to better use open data for project planning, monitoring and evaluation. Currently, there is a list of 100 data portals available, categorized by regions and sectors, which should help data analysts quickly identify relevant portals. The base collection is currently done in an internal data platform, but KfW intends to share this information with GIZ and BMZ in the short term and the general public in the medium term. The data portals are stored with relevant meta-information such as countries, sectors, and topics covered. The list should enable data analysts to quickly pre-screen and identify relevant data portals for their work purposes.

KfW supports the development of the Open Source R package mapme.biodiversity. The package is written in R and published on CRAN. It is used by analysts to process big geospatial data efficiently.
